Brother is preparing to launch its new GTX300 hybrid garment printer across Europe, the Middle East and Africa on 1 September 2026, bringing direct-to-garment (DTG) and direct-to-film (DTF) production together in a single professional machine.
The launch matters beyond equipment buyers. It reflects a wider shift in garment decoration: print businesses increasingly need to handle cotton T-shirts, hoodies, polyester workwear, performance fabrics and short-run personalised orders without maintaining completely separate production workflows.

Brother describes the GTX300 as a professional hybrid garment printer designed to switch between DTG and DTF workflows. DTG prints ink directly onto suitable garments, while DTF prints a design onto transfer film before it is applied to the garment with heat.
That distinction matters because the two methods suit different jobs. DTG is widely used for cotton and cotton-rich garments where a soft-hand print and detailed full-colour artwork are important. DTF can extend production to polyester, blends, performance wear and placements that are harder to handle with a traditional DTG setup.
Brother says the GTX300 is intended to let decorators move between the two methods without adding a separate printer for each process.
Brother Industrial EMEA has stated that the GTX300 will be available across Europe, the Middle East and Africa from 1 September 2026.
The timing makes the launch especially relevant for UK garment printers preparing for the autumn and Christmas merchandise period, when demand for personalised clothing, branded workwear, creator merchandise and event apparel often increases.
The European release follows earlier GTX300 announcements in other markets during 2026.
The most interesting part of the GTX300 launch is not simply that Brother has released another printer. It is the direction the equipment market is taking.
Garment decorators are increasingly expected to accept a wider variety of jobs. A customer may want premium cotton T-shirts for a clothing brand one day and polyester sportswear, workwear or tote bags the next. Traditionally, serving both requirements efficiently could mean investing in separate equipment or outsourcing part of the production.
A hybrid system is designed to reduce that friction.
DTG remains highly effective for detailed prints on cotton garments, while DTF can be useful for polyester, blends and technical fabrics. Combining the workflows can give a print business more freedom when choosing the most suitable process for each product.
The custom-printing market continues to move toward smaller, more flexible production runs. Brands increasingly test designs before committing to larger quantities, while consumers expect one-off or highly personalised products.
Hybrid digital production fits that pattern because it is designed around fast artwork changes rather than long screen-print setup processes.
For smaller and growing print businesses, floor space, maintenance, training and workflow complexity can all become significant costs. Brother is positioning the GTX300 as a way to support both DTG and DTF applications from one platform.
That does not mean every printer will replace dedicated DTF or high-volume DTG equipment, but it may make hybrid systems increasingly attractive to businesses that need flexibility more than maximum single-process throughput.
Brother’s published GTX300 specifications list a maximum print resolution of 1200 × 1200 dpi and a maximum printable area of 16 × 21 inches (40.64 × 53.34 cm) when used with the wide platen.
The system uses water-based pigment ink in CMYKW colours and includes a seven-inch touch panel. Brother also lists its GTX Graphics Lab software as part of the workflow for creating print files.
The machine weighs approximately 125 kg including the platen, showing that this is aimed at professional production environments rather than hobby or desktop use.
For UK customers, changes in production technology can eventually influence the range of products printers can offer, minimum order quantities and turnaround times.
A print business able to switch more easily between DTG and DTF may be better placed to handle mixed orders containing cotton T-shirts, hoodies, polyester workwear or performance garments without forcing every product through the same print process.

DTG can be an excellent choice for cotton garments and detailed artwork where a soft feel is important. DTF can offer greater fabric flexibility and work well for some placements and garment types that are less suited to direct printing.
The best method therefore depends on the garment, artwork, quantity and required finish.
For customers, that is more useful than simply asking which technology is 'better'. A professional printer should choose a process based on the job rather than forcing every order into one method.
The Brother launch arrives as other parts of the garment-decoration market are also shifting toward digital production.
Recent UK industry coverage has highlighted growing interest in shorter runs, print-on-demand fulfilment and flexible digital workflows. London garment decorator Fifth Column, for example, recently invested in industrial DTG technology specifically to expand beyond traditional screen-printing minimums and support lower-volume customised jobs.
Together, these developments suggest that flexibility is becoming one of the most important competitive advantages in custom apparel production.
Most customers do not need to choose a printer model. What matters is the outcome: the right print method for the garment, clear artwork reproduction, sensible order quantities and reliable turnaround.
